A legendary club led by a legendary head coach. The modern history of FC Barcelona and Xavi Pascual is proceeding in a perfect parallel. And, at the age of 40, Xavi already reached the status of the best coaches of Europe. For this reason, the first big win conquered both by the club and the head coach was the announcement of the contract renewal for two more seasons, until June 2015. It means the guarantee of continuing to write the club history togetgher, always as favourite, always to win. As the head coach of FC Barcelona, Xavi Pascual already won... everything: one Euroleague, three ACB League, two Copa del Rey, three Supercopa ACB and three Catalan League... More, individually he was awarded as Best Coach of ACB in 2008/2009, 2009/2010, 2010/2011 and Best Coach of Euroleague in 2009/2010. He won trophies every of his four full seasons with FC Barcelona, won 12 titles out of 22 and was present in 18 of 22 final rounds. He created a style, a style of perfection inside the already great club organization, and in the 2012/2013 season he will be ready to compete once more at the highest level on every court, as the has already showed in the first half of the season, leading its group both in the Euroleague Regular Season and Top 16 and winning the Copa del Rey, as well as recovering after a difficult start in the ACB reachig a solid 3rd place...

He was the youngest Spanish coach ever to win the ACB League, in the 2008/2009 season with FC Barcelona, and one year later he brought back the Euroleague title to the blau-grana Club, definitely entering the gate of European basketball history. In two consecutive years, Xavi Pascual was awarded as “Coach of the Year” both in ACB League and Euroleague, and in 2011 he was awarded for the third consecutive time by ACB League. But the great personal results, trophies and awards alwayas come as second to him, who is completely focused on the team victory as first. And after graduating in Industrial Engineering before deciding to become a professional basketball head coach, we can say that Xavi Pascual perfectly realized his project drawing. That project became reality on February 14th, 2008, when he was put in charge as head coach of FC Barcelona succeeding to Dusko Ivanovic, after two-and-a-half years as his assistant.

Xavi Pascual was born on September 9th, 1972 in Gavà, Spain. Married to Noelia, he started coaching at CB Gavà, where between 1990 and 1994 he worked with all the youth categories, and also took charge of the Barcelona minibasketball selection in 1990/1991. He started coaching the Senior B team at CB Cornellà in 1994/1995, then a season later he became assistant coach of Agustí Cuesta (today the Area Director of INVICTUS Sports Group) in the first team, collecting a 2nd and 3rd place in the EBA League and winning a EBA Catalan League in two seasons. His next teams were in the Second National League, with CB Santfeliuenc and CB Olesa, where he won the promotion to the EBA League. Then he coached CB Aracena for three seasons: in the first one he won both the EBA Catalan League and promotion to LEB-2. Then he retained the League title, gained promotion to the LEB and won the Prince of Asturias Cup. Finally, he won the LEB Catalan League.

In the 2004/05 season he signed for FC Barcelona. He was head coach of the second team in the EBA League and also technical director of youth sections. Then, starting from the 2005/2006 season he was assistant coach of Dusko Ivanovic in the first team, winning the Copa del Rey. Finally, on February 14th, 2008 Xavi Pascual was named head coach by the General Manager of FC Barcelona, Zoran Savic. The team showed very good improvements finishing as runners up in the ACB League, and Pascual remained head coach for the following season. Then, in the 2008/2009 season he won the ACB League title and qualified for the Final Four of Euroleague, and in 2009/2010 he brought FC Barcelona back to the top of Europe, winning the Euroleague title at the Final Four in Paris on May 9th, 2010. That season was nearly perfect, Barҫa won 4 trophies out of 5: Catalan Cup, ACB Supercopa, ACB Copa del Rey and Euroleague, then unfortunately stopped in the ACB League playoffs finals.

In 2010/2011, once more with FC Barcelona starting as great favorite in every competition, the head coach of the blau-grana team proved once more his abilities to make the team play at its best under any kind of pressure, establishing a strong relationship with his players and giving them maximum motivation on the court. Just to begin, in the pre-season Barҫa beat the NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers in the official friendly game of Palau Saint Jordi, in front of 17.000 fans, and after the game both Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol publically expressed their congratulations to the blau-grana team coached by Xavi Pascual. Then, once more the season was tremendously successful for Barça, winning 4 trophies out of 5 for the second consecutive year: Catalan League, Supercopa, Copa del Rey and ACB League. Unfortunately, the Euroleague path stopped just one step away from the Final Four to be played on Palau Sant Jordi, with FC Barcelona defeated by the future champions of Panathinaikos. But this is basketball, and Xavi found the way to make his team react and come back on the court even stronger to win the ACB Finals without any hesitation. 
 
The 2011/2012 season was once more successful: Xavi and Regal FCB won the Catalan League, ACB Supercopa and most of all the ACB League, in an epic duel against Real Madrid, completing the revenge after the loss in the Copa del Rey Final of February. In the Euroleague, the team made a sensational path, finishing as 1st placed both the Regular Season (9-1) and the Top 16 (6-0) as well as dominating the Playoffs Quarterfinals against Caja Laboral for 3-0, over UNICS Kazan. Then, in the Final Four Olympiacos won the Semifinal by 1, and Barça could just conquest the 3rd place defeating Panathinaikos. No matter the disappointment, Pascual made the players react and be ready for the ACB Playoffs, in which the team eliminated Alicante and Valencia in the first two rounds, going to the Finals against Real Madrid: Regal FCB won Game 1 but lost the following Game 2 and 3; down for 1-2, the team conquered a sensational road win in Game 4, forcing Real to come back to Palau Blaugrana to play the decisive Game 5. And this time, getting the win and the title in front of its fans!
